White Background

To showcase your products with the least amount of distractions, a plain white backgrounds is the best way to do this. The main benefit of choosing a white background for your images is consistency. It offers continuity and and allows the product to be the focal point. Attention goes to the details of the product with the least amount of distractions.

Black Background

Photos of an object on a black background can be very appealing. Black background product photography is most often seen in luxury products such as jewellery, cosmetics and alcohol. It creates an elegant, sophisticated look while still maintaining neutral colours and highlighting the product. Black backdrops can create a moody and dramatic feel to your products.

Single Item Shots & Groupings

Single item shots are shots of each individual item on its own. They can consist of the full item or a close up image showing the more intricate details of an item. A grouping of items in a photo is a way to showcase more than one item at a time. Product grouping is often done with objects such as ceramics, makeup and beauty products. It means the viewer can see either a whole range of a new line of products or to compare sizes of different items. Groupings can be done with a number of items the exact same or different items from the same range.

High-Resolution Images V Low-Resolution Images

(I will provide you with both high & low resolution versions of your images)

What is a high-resolution image?

A high-resolution image is anything that has a 300 dpi resolution and has a large pixel dimension, for example over 4000 x 3000 pixels long. High resolution photos are required for sharp reproduction in publications otherwise the printing quality will be poor. If you are looking for images to use in a publication, on any printed material to represent your brand or for enlargements then you will require high-resolution image for these.

What is a low-resolution image?

Low-resolution images have fewer pixels. They usually have around 72 dpi and are under 2500 x 1500 pixels long. They have a smaller file size which is recommended for web use. A low resolution means that the density of the dots that make up the image is low. If you are looking for images for your website or social media then you will need low-resolution images. Images with too high a resolution will slow down your website and may not load properly thus loosing you valuable clients.
